FORD V8 Engines: The Elusive Electrical Gremlin - Reginald A. Craig You may think a car starts with the key, but when you twist the metal collar on the steering column a synchronized operation of components merge elements together that ignite rapid-fire controlled explosions. The Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) requires three primary sources to work; Air, Fuel and Spark. Each resource is delivered by different methods. However, each exhibit there own failure symptom when a problem arises. Today we are focusing on electrical, more precisely; The Ignition System. My 1980 Continental Mark VI is equipped with a Carbureted 5.8L Ford 351 Windsor V8 engine. Recently I resolved a problem with the failed Ignition System. Over the course of several months I performed a series of part replacement trial and error sessions. The process started with recalling the symptoms and to track if the behavior would repeat. Before I proceed it is necessary for me to interject that prior to the vehicle...

MY MERKUR HISTORY: Love For The Automobile - Reginald A. Craig My Merkur history began with blissful ignorance. Growing up my familiarity of cars was through the lens of the motorcity. All of my youth I spent hours upon hours drawing vehicles from the big three. Starting in the 80’s I would also assemble several 1/24th scale model cars and the Mustang (Special Vehicle Operations) edition quickly became my favorite. This experience piqued my interest about the 2.3 liter Lima in-line 4 cylinder turbocharged engine.  At the time I was young and became obsessed with the Mustang SVO (1984-1986). Ford Motor Companies answer was to ship over to the states a re-engineered and rebadged version of their European vehicle named Sierra. Ford of Eu...

2020 MARK VI MUSTANG: Lovin' My New Car - Reginald A. Craig It was last year February 22, 2019 that I turned my pondering into a promise... Dear Reggie, My goal is to purchase a 2020 Ford Mustang GT with a Manual Transmission. I totally understand that this pony car is not as sleek as the Corvette or as fast as a Ferrari. However, speed is not my desire for this acquisition. I value the Mustangs historical automotive importance and the connection to my birth place Detroit. The love of cars has always been apart of my upbringing. I’ve come to a point in life where the Mustang is the only car I want to own from brand new, even in spite of typical depreciation. REALITY ONE YEAR LATER: On January 13, 2020 I purchased my very own brand spankin' new Mustang GT in Velocity Blue. My vehicle purchase was smooth and stress free from Tom Holzer Ford; a car dealership located in Farmington Hills Michigan. I did my research online using the official Ford website; ther...
